Zyhpra Nighthawk
Dark Elf Hexblade Warlock

Brief Overview
Former City Guard. Was sickened by the blind obedience to the "rules" that most fellow guards exhibited. Some even used their position to power trip. The world is not black or white. It is shades of gray, and taking circumstances into account is important. Left the Guard to study magic. Also, curious about Thrann and her people’s history there.
Parents are Pyhrran Elves. Moved from Thrann before she was born. She was born on Gar Athuna.
Personality Traits
- I approach problems head-on. A simple, direct course is the best path to a solution.
- I enjoy my strength and like to break things.
Ideals
- Independence: When people obey orders blindly, they affirm a kind of tyranny. (Chaotic)
Bonds
- I fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
Flaws
- My hatred of my foes is blind and unreasoning. (Gnolls are KoS.)
Favorite Merchant/Shopkeep In Port Aggaba: Gruhta
Fave merchant/shopkeep in town is the Smithy, Gruhta... for obvious reasons. Swords, shields, and armor are Hawk's clothes, shoes, and bags. They struck up a friendship not only because Hawk loves to shop there, even if it's just to admire the smithy's new handiwork, but also when she was part of the city guard, she caught some thieves in the act of robbing the place one night and was able to stop them and return the merchandise.
The smithy is an orc woman who appreciated the help, and they do occasionally see one another at one of the places the locals visit, whether the local watering hole, or one of the food places. Inns, I guess. Whoever sees the other first buys the other a beer.
Whenever the smith is working on something new, she will sometimes let Hawk see the work in progress... they ooh and ahh over it like it's a piece of art, which, it kind of is. The name of the shop is Heat of the Moment.
- Gruhta cuts Hawk deals: 10% off for now, and she has a 'reputation' bar with her now.
- In return, even though she's no longer on the guard, Hawk will help if called, and keeps an eye on the places if she's in town in the area.
Biggest Asshole in Port Aggaba: His Lordship Bartholemew Q Pratt
His Lordship Bartholemew Q Pratt. He's the preacher in the largest church in town. He CLAIMS to speak for St. Cuthbert.
"Among his followers, the Word of the Cudgel is law" Well, as the specific chosen one of St. Cuthbert for Aggaba, his Cudgel is just as valid as St. Cuthbert's.
One evening, a human kid of about 8 years old was caught "stealing" bread from the Baker as the Baker was closing up for the night.
The thing is, the Baker was known among poorer citizens to leave his day-old loaves and pastries and such in an easily accessible place, and if they just HAPPENED to go missing at the end of the day, well... if he chose not to report it, no harm no foul, right?
Problem is, Reverend Pratt was out for an evening constitutional and caught the kid "taking" the bread and called the City Guard, insisting that "the little thief be prosecuted!" because we can't have good upstanding citizens victimized!
Hawk was the responding member of the Guard.
Hawk escorted the kid to the local clink and then let her go, and told her to be more careful next time. Pratt saw the kid on the streets the next day, raised a stink, Hawk couldn't hold her tongue anymore, basically told him to fuck off, and quit the City Guard because she would have been fired anyway as an example. Even though he's a dick, he does wield some power over the "believers" he has snowed.
As a result, she tries to avoid running into him in town. She avoids the area of town around the church because it makes her sick to her stomach. However, after she quit the guard, one night she snuck into the church and left a gnoll corpse on the altar with a note that said, "I know all about you." Bart's not sure, but he tends to look away if he and Hawk ever happen to see each other in town.
The kid, Selene, may actually turn out to be an informant at some point.
And, interestingly enough, her mother, Cressida Ravenshadow, is reputed to be a Witch. They live on the edge of town and obviously don't make a lot of money, but she does sell handmade candles and raises bees. Maybe that's why the Reverend wanted to make a particular example out of Selene.
Favorite Gossip-Monger: Lorian the Watchful (City Guard)
One of her fellow guards... well, he's still a guard, so he gets a lot of the inside info from around town. Basically, she's still good with the City Guard that actually walks the streets, because they mostly feel the same way she does about poor kids stealing food. It's just the upper management that are the idiots... same shit, different era. Anyway, Lorian the Watchful, as he is known, has remained good friends with our Zyphra Nighthawk and keeps her appraised of the 411. He is an Elf, as well.
